Sanity?

On my way home from dinner tonight, I briefly considered giving a homeless man the half-empty bottle of salad dressing I was carrying. I am quite possibly nuts.

Addendum

As I was writing that last post, I knew there was something that I was leaving out. I finally figured out what that was.

As I was standing in line to purchase my DVDs, I saw this book on display. May I assure you that the illustrations are not as graphic as you might be inclined to think. Also, seeing the word "turd" in print, and knowing it was placed there by an M.D. is something I find to be quite hilarious.

I also learned about this "breathtaking" book by Reepah Gud Wan (say it aloud).

Wouldn't you say my collection's complete?

I know that in 3 years, I won't have regretted this purchase at all, but right now, I'm trying my darndest to justify it. Stupid Borders and their 40% off coupons!

Yeah, so I bought this big Alfred Hitchcock box set. I have been wanting to buy several of the films separately for awhile (Psycho, The Birds, Shadow of a Doubt, etc.), and the cost of the set was a few dollars cheaper than buying them separately... (justification continues).

Just in case you were wondering, here are the other titles included:
  • Saboteur
  • Rope
  • The Trouble With Harry
  • The Man Who Knew Too Much
  • Marnie
  • Torn Curtain
  • Topaz
  • Frenzy
  • Family Plot
  • Rear Window
  • Vertigo
It's a pretty good collection all in all, and when you add to it the films I already have (Dial M For Murder, I Confess, Strangers on a Train), I have the start of a nice little Hitchcock collection. I actually already have copies of Rear Window and Vertigo, so for anyone out there who is interested in buying a used DVD or two that are in excellent condition, they're going cheap! I'm thinking $10/DVD, but that's negotiable, as long as you're willing to go up.

PC and Mac? What?

So, according to the fount of all knowledge, Guitar Hero III is being developed for PC and Mac. Check it out:
On September 11, 2007, Aspyr Media and Activision announced that Guitar Hero III will also be developed for both the PC and Macintosh platforms. The game is expected to ship at the same time as the consoles, and will include USB-based Gibson Guitars.

More info can be found here.

Personally, I think this has the potential for sending GHacking into the stratosphere, but in all practicality, I don't really see it being a better experience than on the console. Sorry. I've just had too many hiccups with games on PC/Mac over the years that would kill a rhythm based game. I'll stick to the PS2.

Dave's Big Day!

Phew! What a day. I visited 4 of the 5 boroughs today. Here's a brief rundown:
  • Brooklyn - went to Target
  • Manhattan - more on that later
  • The Bronx - wrong turn
  • Queens - en route to Roosevelt Island
Pretty cool, eh? Well, maybe you'll be more impressed once you hear all the places I've been in Manhattan.
  • Upper East Side - where I'm currently house-sitting
  • Waterside Plaza - dropping off my Target bounty and taking a much deserved shower
  • Union Square - looking for new threads
  • West Village - to see Sydney Anne's Apple. From there I walked through the Meatpacking district, across 14th, up through Gramercy and back to Waterside
  • Harlem - for a visit to "La Casa" (Thanks, M, for the reminder!)
  • Roosevelt Island - for a bumpin' Mormon shin-dig
So, as you can see (actually not, since I forgot my camera), I had a pretty full day. Hooray for me!

A ton of useless information

Here's a collection of random facts and events that have been a part of my life lately:

I think my new cell phone is sexy, but it has serious T9 problems, which led me to restoring it to factory presets, and being mildly amused at the following message.
A few years ago, this Seattle building did not have a picture of Ichiro on it. In fact, this is where I confronted the Giant Head of Donny Osmond. It was as big as Ichiro.
You can buy "Space Noodles" at the Space Needle.

They even kinda-sorta look like the Space Needle.
Apparently that Peruvian band that is always in Times Square has a franchise in Seattle.
Seattle also has a Todai. Nothing better than all-you-can-eat sushi!
This is the jersey that I recently bought off eBay. Why do I love jerseys so much?

An apology

To anyone who may read this and actually care:

Sorry that my posting has been rather lackluster of late. To be honest, I really haven't had the motivation to do much of anything lately, other than to get increasingly frustrated at the fact that I'm not getting anything done. But, as soon as I extricate myself from this unholy funk, I'll have some good stuff for you (including what I was doing during the last Guitar Hero gathering, and another trip to the Museum of Flight!).

I'm hoping that all of this will come soon. Thanks.

Quickie #3

Shown to me by a coworker...

Quickie #2

Not quite as quick, but still worth it.

Quickie

Ok, just a little laugh for you all.

Enjoy!

No appropriate name

I just finished watching Liza Minnelli sing "God Bless America" before the US Open men's final. All I can say is wow. It started as a moving rendition, moved to sort of a shuffle-beat kind of thing, and then finished with all the Broadway awesomeness that could be mustered. Wow.

Laketastic

Before this gets too old, here are a few photos from Labor Day.

It was a super-relaxing weekend, so thanks again to everyone who made it happen!

Did you know...

I bet there are a few things that you didn't know about me. Here they are:

I have played in many jazz bands and combos over the years.

I own a red guitar.

I played on the school tennis team (not pictured).

I was the Pep Band director for my high school (also not pictured).
Girls + baseball apparel: hot. Girls + love for baseball: even hotter. This may come up later.

I've fenced.

I own my own badminton racket (and know how to use it).

In other news...

There's just something really funny about this picture (taken from this article in yesterday's Seattle Times).
